THE DENIM LEGEND – SALVATORE PARASUCO

ROCKING THE WORLD OF FASHION

FOR THE PAST 50 YEARS

After emigrating from Italy to Montreal at a young age,

Salvatore Parasuco’s ambition showed early.

By the 1970s, his entrepreneurial spirit was already in

motion — selling jeans out of his high school locker

to help support his family. What started as a school hustle quietly laid the foundation for a lifelong legacy.

​

In 1972, at only 19 years old, he opened his first official store, Pour Les Deux. It was then that he recognized the rising demand for faded & washed denim.

Instead of waiting on suppliers, Parasuco began

experimenting at home — where he and his family were

pioneering washed denim, creating unique and beautiful washes, refining shades of indigo, and hang drying them on the family clothesline. Careful record keeping turned experimentation into crafsmanship.

There was born the first denim laundry in Canada.

A breakthrough that helped redefine how denim looks, feels, and wears, shaping the denim world we know today.

In 1975, Salvatore Parasuco launches Santana

Jeans. Redefining the denim industry with

acid-wash, black overdye, sandblasting finishes to

name a few. In 1976 he became renowned as

the “Denim Legend” for revolutionizing the world of Fashion with Stretch Denim.

Parasuco wasn’t just designing jeans;

he was crafting the future trends of denim.

​

By 1988, Santana Jeans evolved into Parasuco

Jeans, catapulting onto the international stage.

With a sharp eye on brand identity, Parasuco

trademarked his iconic back-pocket stitch

and introduced a new logo for the brand:

The Chimera.

​

A mythical beast with a lion’s body, a goat’s head

rising from its back, and a serpent’s tail.

An art from Arezzo, Italy, the Chimera

embodies Tuscan pride, imagination & audacity.

Just like the brand itself.

Parasuco’s denim expertise sent shockwaves

through Hollywood, eventually captivating the

industry’s elite. Silver-screen icon Mickey Rourke,

Salvatore’s personal favourite actor, reached out

directly to collaborate on the brand’s campaigns.

​

Beyond Hollywood, Parasuco became a status

symbol for the world’s biggest music icons.

In the world of Hip-Hop, the brand earned its stripes through lyrical shout-outs from heavyweights like Snoop Dogg and Nelly, who cemented the name as a shorthand for luxury.

​

Meanwhile, the brand’s Stretch Denim and

body-sculpting fits made it the go-to for global

superstars like Beyoncé, Celine Dion, and Justin

Bieber. Whether it was on a stadium stage or in

a top chart music video, Parasuco provided style

for a generation of icons.

​

Driven by an insatiable demand for authentic,

forward-thinking denim, Parasuco expanded with retail ventures, a wholesale network & a strong digital presence. Connecting his denim with

customers across the globe. Today, Parasuco

continues to push boundaries, blending technical

mastery, innovative fabrics, and bold designs.

US Copyright issue becomes opportunity to

expand into the US as Parasuco jeans

New international Head Office is built at

128 Deslauriers in Montreal’s Garment District.

1997

Parasuco opens his first flagship store in Montreal (Canada)

Parasuco opens multiple flagship locations in Quebec City, Laval, Pointe Claire & Mississauga (Canada) Creates first license for the European luxury market

Parasuco opens flagship store in Toronto (Canada)

Parasuco opens flagship store in New York
